Y'all must be sick of me constantly pimping out MOMocrats, but I'm at it again. Bear with me.
If you're a regular reader, you know that we've been credentialed as press for the Democratic National Convention in Denver this Summer. At last count, 11 of us will be there blogging our hearts out. Oh and I will be photographing my heart out. How often does a photographer have this kind of opportunity?
Our goal in attending the convention is to make politics accessible to all of you. Yes, you can watch the convention floor on C-Span or CNN, but we're going to be at the Democratic Womens Caucus, state caucuses, events and roundtable discussions of issues important to women. (Isn't that just about everything?) We want to unmask the mystery that surrounds the American political system.
Unfortunately, it costs a lot to do that. We're self funded. We have some small corporate sponsors who have agreed to loan us things like a few flip cameras and some broadband cards, but we're doing the rest of it ourselves. Most corporate sponsors don't want to touch a brazenly partisan organization like ours with a 10 foot pole. Our flights, hotel rooms, transportation, food, we're paying for all of it. But let's face it, folks, none of the MOMocrats are millionaires.
