I recently had the chance to photograph an adorable young family with two little girls. As longtime readers know, I have two boys so I always jump at the chance to take pictures of little girls!
After two false starts and one speeding ticket, we finally got these pictures taken. L'Erin and Jeffrey, I hope it was worth the wait!

I have another sneak peek up on LightHearted Photography from the photo sessions I did in Central Park.
The day that I shot Cinderella and her family in the park, I had another photo session with an adorable family. Jenn, Andrea (Cinderella's mom) and I have known each other since we were all pregnant with our October babies in 2004. Mine decided he wanted to show up in September, but all of us have children within 2 1/2 weeks of each other. I was thrilled when Andrea asked me to come up to New York and getting to meet Jenn as well made it even better.
Jenn, it was so much fun to take photos of your family, especially your darling girls in their adorable dresses. There's just something irresistible about sisters. And Central Park was, as always, amazing.

I have new review up on Lawyer Mama Review, but I'm warning you before you click that link. It's an unusual review for me, for a product from Eden Fantasys, and it took me about 2 weeks after I wrote it to actually get the nerve to publish it.

Now, on to the main event!
DD tagged me with a photo meme. I'm supposed to look in my 6th picture folder & post the 6th photo inside, along with the story of the photo. But my 6th picture in my 6th folder is an unprocessed RAW camera file from a political fundraiser for congressman-elect Glenn Nye (LOVE writing that! Woot! Way to go, Glenn!). Because I'm too lazy to process the photo and convert it to a jpg for this, I cheated and used my Flickr account.

I took this photo on January 10, 2008, while Hollis was home sick. He hung out on the couch watching TV and sipping ginger ale for a few days and I took pictures of him. Not much of a story, but I love this photo because he didn't know I was taking his picture. This was also right after I upgraded to Photoshop CS3, so I had some fun with the photo. For processing, I used a RAW preset by Michelle Black - Black & White Rich Mocha - modified quite a bit, and used a violet satin texture overlay by Leenda K.
Since this is a meme, I'm supposed to tag people, but I think there are maybe only 2 or 3 people who still reliably read my blog! So if you're reading this and you have a blog, consider yourself tagged! (That includes you, Viv.)
So NaBloPoMo lasted about 2 days for me. Ha! I've been a bit busy though, trying to get two businesses running, dealing with sick kids and an intestinal illness from hell. When is it going to be Spring?

I've emerged from my campaign chaos to participate in the Greeblepix Photo Contest for October. I hear Amiee and she's an honorary MOMocrat. I got to see her twice this summer - at BlogHer and at the DNC - where she was nice enough to ignore the fact that all the MOMos smelled after roasting at Invesco for oh, 12 hours.
I took the photo below of Holden, after we lit the candles on my birthday cake last Saturday evening. I knew I had to take a photo when I saw the candlelight reflected in his eyes. I did not use a flash.

I've been taking photos. And people are actually paying me for it!
I've also been acting as the Deputy Director for Outreach for Blue Star Families for Obama, a grassroots organization of military family members supporting Barack Obama for president. I've been a busy little bee. In fact, politics has pretty much owned my butt 20 hours a day since August.
And oh, yeah, I quit my job.
You know all that depression stuff and those hints about change to come? Yep. I did it. I jumped off the cliff.
And you know what? I've never felt better.
Now that I'm finally doing something I'm passionate about; now that I'm making a difference, the clouds are gone. I'm me again and I know this isn't a temporary thing.
Whatever I do and wherever I go in the future, I must feel that I'm making a difference in the world.
